The first of these was taken in Berlin - I thought it was funny and cute in an "oh, no! I've fallen over..." sort of way . And then I noticed how much it reminded me of 'The Scream'; another, for fans of Goya, reminiscent of "Dog Burial in Sand".... and then I started to notice a much darker side. Piled up gaunt and blackened, always caged in and prostrate, I cannot help but think of war crimes, slavery and death camps, and I now find these commonplace objects quite disturbing.
